September at Casa Kink

September is a pretty big month for us at Casa Kink. Not only is spring finally here, but this month we are celebrating 10 years of Casa parties and 3 years in the Dungeon, which is something I still find hard to believe. Ten years is a long time to be doing anything, let alone running a kink space, and when I look back at where we started and where we are now, there is a lot to celebrate.
So, naturally, we've put together a rather busy September.
There is a bit of everything this month, from daytime dungeon sessions, education to social events, a Heritage Day braai and, of course, our big 10th anniversary celebration. Whether you are brand new to Casa, have been around for years, or haven't quite got around to coming through the doors yet, there should be something here that catches your interest.

Let's start with the dungeon...
Our upcoming Partnered Dungeon Day is on Wednesday 9 September, and there are another three throughout the month on the 16th, 23rd and 30th.
Dungeon Days are only open to people attending with play partner/s. It is a great way to experience Casa during the day and have some time and space to play, practise or explore without the atmosphere of a big evening party. If there is something you've been wanting to try, something you've been practising, or you simply enjoy having a few hours to play with your partner, this is your opportunity.
And if you've only ever experienced Casa during a busy party, you might be surprised at how different the space feels during the day.
Then we're getting educational
On Thursday 10 September, our Kink Collective is tackling a subject that tends to generate plenty of questions: Backdoor Health.
We've got Duncan from Backdoor Botanics joining us for a workshop and discussion about anal health, and whether you're already an enthusiastic participant or you're simply curious about how to explore anal play safely and comfortably, this should be a really useful evening.
As always with Kink Collective, this is community education and the idea isn't to stand around being lectured at for hours. Come along, learn something, ask questions, have a conversation and then stick around afterwards to socialise and maybe even play. That's really what Kink Collective is all about: learning something interesting and then having the opportunity to connect with the people around you.

Saturday is for being social
On 12 September, we're bringing together some of the things we've enjoyed about our previous social events for Social Saturday. If you've been to Creative Collective, High Tea or Games Day in the past, you'll have a pretty good idea of the sort of afternoon we're aiming for. Bring your projects, games to play and plenty of opportunities to sit around, chat and meet people.
This is one of those events where you really don't need to have a plan. You don't have to arrive intending to play a game, or work on art, and you don't need to know anyone when you walk through the door. Come and spend some time with us, have a laugh and see what happens.
New to the scene? Come and be curious.
On Thursday 17 September, we have Curious Collective, specifically aimed at people who are new to kink, new to Casa, or simply curious about what all of this is about.
Starting something new can be intimidating, particularly when it seems like everyone else already knows what they're doing. The truth is that everyone starts somewhere, and you don't need to arrive with a partner, a list of experiences or an impressive knowledge of kink terminology.
Curious Collective is an opportunity to ask questions, meet other people who are also figuring things out and get a feel for the scene in a more relaxed environment. If you've been lurking around the edges of Casa and thinking, "I really should go sometime", perhaps this is your sometime.
Heritage Day, Casa style
On Thursday 24 September, we're swapping the dungeon for the braai. It's Heritage Day, so we're having a Casa Heritage Day Braai, because really, what could be more South African than getting a bunch of kinky people together around a fire and feeding them?
This one is about the social side of Casa. Good food, good company, a chance to catch up with old friends and meet some new ones. Kink doesn't always have to be the main event, and some of the best Casa evenings are the ones where people simply sit around talking nonsense for hours.
Bring your appetite and come hang out.

And then... 10 of the Best
Finally, on Saturday 26 September, we get to celebrate the reason September is such a big month in the first place.
Casa Kink is turning 10.
We're marking the occasion with 10 of the Best, our big anniversary party and a celebration of the things that have made Casa what it is over the past decade.
Ten years means a lot of memories. There have been parties that went brilliantly, parties that taught us a few things, workshops that changed the way people thought about kink, new friendships, old friendships, unexpected adventures, outrageous outfits and more than a few stories that probably shouldn't make it into a public blog.
But most importantly, there have been people.
People who walked through the door for the first time feeling nervous and unsure. People who came looking for their people and found them. People who learned new skills, discovered new interests, made friends, found partners and sometimes discovered entirely new sides of themselves.
That is what we're really celebrating.
So whether you've been part of Casa for ten years or you've only just discovered us, we'd love to have you there.
A month that feels very Casa
Looking at the September calendar, I think what I like most is how much variety there is. You can come to learn something. You can come because you're curious. You can come to play. You can come to meet people. You can come for the food. You can come because you've been coming for years and it's Thursday night and that's where you're supposed to be.
There isn't one way to do Casa.
At the heart of all of it are the things we've always wanted Casa to stand for: safety, inclusivity and consent. Those are the foundations that allow us to have the fun, the exploration, the silliness and the slightly questionable decisions that happen on top of them.
And after ten years, we're still learning, still changing and still finding new things to do.
So, if you've been wondering when to come and see what Casa is all about, September might be a pretty good month to do it.
Come for a workshop. Come for a social. Come for the braai. Come and explore the dungeon. Come celebrate ten years with us.
Or come to several. We won't complain.
See you at Casa.
