Our collective is more than a group of people, it’s a living, breathing community. Culture doesn’t just happen; it grows from the values we share, the way we treat each other, and the rituals we create together. This workshop is our chance to pause, reflect, and intentionally shape the kind of environment we want to thrive in as we prepare to enter our third year at the Dungeon in Montague Gardens.
Whether you’ve been with us from our first event back in 2016 or are brand new, you have a voice in shaping this culture. Together, we can create a space that feels safe, inclusive, kind and unmistakably ours.
Why Culture Matters
Culture is the heartbeat of any community. It shows up in:
How we greet each other
How we celebrate wins and handle mistakes
The language we use
The way we make space for different voices
If we want our collective to be a place where everyone can flourish, then we must choose, deliberately, the kind of culture we nurture.
Our Workshop
At our upcoming Co-Creating Our Collective Culture session, we’ll:
Map out our shared values and the everyday actions that bring them to life
Explore what safety, inclusivity, and kindness look like in practice
Identify “seeds of culture” — the small things we can plant now that will grow into lasting traditions
This will be a hands-on, interactive session — expect creativity, laughter, and maybe a little music.
Things to Reflect on Before You Come
We’ll get the most from our time together if we arrive ready to share. Here are a few prompts to think about:

Inclusivity
How can we make sure everyone, regardless of background, identity, or experience, feels welcome and valued?
What behaviours or practices might unintentionally exclude someone?
Can you think of a time you truly felt included? What made the difference?

Safety
What helps you feel safe to share your ideas and be yourself?
How do we address conflicts in a way that maintains trust?
What boundaries are essential for you in a group space?

Kindness
What does kindness look like in our collective?
How can we extend kindness even when we disagree?
How can we ensure kindness is part of our everyday culture, not just the “big moments”?
How You Can Contribute
Bring your voice. Bring your ideas. Bring your creativity. You might also want to bring:
A quote, lyric, or image that reflects the culture you want to see
An example of a tradition from another group or community that inspired you
An open mind and willingness to listen
Our Goal
By the end of the workshop, we won’t just have ideas, we’ll have a living expression of our shared culture. It will be a touchstone for new members, a reminder for ourselves, and a promise to each other.
Culture is what we do, not just what we say. Let’s build something beautiful, together.
